There are over 20 terms that describe different sexual orientations and over 60 individual sexual identities within a dozen broad categories. Given this fact it would be very difficult to include every currently defined orientation and identity into our product. To simplify, we've taken and combined terms into easy-to-understand groups.
To make this system clear visually, the opo Color Key was created. The Color Key is a defined set of colored stickers that represent the differing orientations, gender identities and relationship statuses. These stickers are placed into the opo Personal Tag at assembly and can be changed at any time.
This is a product for everyone, regardless of how you define yourself. If these colors and numbers seem confusing, note that it's simpler than it looks. Once you fill out your tag, it’s likely you'll be interested in connecting with someone with the same three color/numbers you placed in your tag.
For explanation and definition of the different colored slots, refer below.

The Tag Slots, Color and Their Meanings
Background on Slot Development
Given the vast number of terms currently used to define personal orientation and identity, not all terms could be included specifically into our colored system. We thought long and hard about the best way to create groups that would encompass everyone, but also leave some room for individuality. What we decided upon is the system you will see below. Know that the system we chose is for you but does not define you. When you read through each of the terms, their definitions, and decide on whats best for you, know that it doesn't end there. The colors you choose to display have a story that you can choose to share when you connect with someone new.
Personal Orientation Slot (Slot No. 1)
The first slot denotes personal orientation of the wearer. The definition of personal sexual orientation is an individual's enduring physical, romantic and/or emotional attraction to members of the same and/or opposite sex, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and heterosexual (straight) orientations. As a clarification, people do not need to have had specific sexual experiences to know their own sexual orientation. The wearer should select the color/number from the key below to denote the personal orientation they identify most with (or use the white blank sticker if they do not wish to share this information within the Tag).
Heterosexual (Blue / #1) - Heterosexual orientation is the romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior between persons of the opposite sex or gender. Someone who is heterosexual is commonly referred to as straight.
Gay (Red / #2) - Gay is the romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior between members of the same sex or gender. This term is commonly used for homosexual men but can be used by women. Some bisexual and homo-romantic men may also identify as gay.
Lesbian (Orange / #3) - Lesbian is the romantic, sexual and/or emotional attraction between women. Some lesbians may prefer to identify as gay women.
Bisexual (Lavender / #4) - Bisexuality is the romantic attraction, sexual attraction, or sexual behavior toward both males and females, or to more than one gender. Being bisexual does not necessarily equate to equal sexual attraction to both sexes; commonly, people who have a distinct but not exclusive sexual preference for one sex over the other may also identify themselves as bisexual. Bisexuality as defined here also includes polysexuality or pansexuality.
Asexual/Aromantic (Green / #5) - Asexual is defined as a person who has no sexual feelings or desires, or who is not sexually attracted to any sex or gender.
Queer (Magenta) - The term queer had different meaning for different people, so it cannot be simply defined. It is an expansive term that encompasses any non-cisgender, non-heterosexual identity. It is also used as an adjective used by some, particularly younger people, whose sexual orientation is not exclusively heterosexual. Typically, for those who identify as queer, the terms lesbian, gay, and bisexual are perceived to be too limiting and/or fraught with cultural connotations they feel do not apply to them.

Gender Identity Slot (Slot No. 2)
The second slot denotes the gender the wearer most identifies with. Gender Identity is best described as the innermost concept of oneself, or a person's internal, deeply held sense of ones gender. Many people have a gender identity of male or female (or man or woman). However, for some people, their identity does not fit neatly into one of those two choices. It is also important to note that gender identity is personal and not visually visible to others. The wearer should select the color/number from the key below to denote their personal gender identity (or use the white blank sticker if they do not wish to share this information within the Tag). s.
Male (Royal Blue / #1)
Female (Dark Pink / #2)
Non-Binary/Genderqueer (Dark Lavender / #3) - Non-Binary & Genderqueer are overlapping categories and some people use the terms to mean the same thing. Both are generally defined denoting a person who does not subscribe to the conventional gender distinction but identifies with neither male or female, both, or a combination of male and female genders.
Agender (Yellow / #4) - Agender is defined as not having a gender. Those that define themselves as agender describe themselves as gender-neutral or having a lack of gender.
Genderfluid (Grey / #5) - Gender fluidity refers to change over time in a person's gender identity. For some people, gender fluidity may be a way to explore gender before deciding on a stable gender identity. For others, gender fluidity may continue as part of their life experience with gender. As an identity, it applies to people whose gender identity doesn't match the sex assigned to them on their original birth certificate.
Trans-gender (Turquoise / #6) - An umbrella term for people whose gender identity and/or gender expression differs from what is typically associated with the sex they were assigned at birth. Some, but not all trans gender take actions to bring their bodies into alignment with their gender identity. However, trans-gender identity is not dependent upon physical appearance or medical procedures. Additionally, those individuals who have completed their transition physically, may wish to define themselves simply as male or female.

Relationship Slot (Slot No. 3)
The third slot denotes other information about the wearer, specifically the relationship status and/or what type of relationship they may be looking for, or is already involved in. The wearer should select the color/letter from the key below to show what information about their relationship they wish to make known or use the white blank sticker if they do not wish to share this information within the Tag). Please read each entry carefully, as the short cut terms listed on the Sticker Sheet may be misleading at first read.
